An illustration for a science-fiction novel cover: a lone station at the edge of a giant planet's ring, cool blue and violet tones, tiny stars, free space at the top for a title, no lettering

A story background for a yoga studio: a sage-green mat on a light wooden floor, a rolled towel and a glass of water beside it, soft morning light, vertical frame, free space at the top and bottom for text, no lettering

A wide banner for a travel agency website: a turquoise bay, a white sailboat, palm trees on the shore, open sky on the left for a headline, no lettering

A photo for a social feed: breakfast on a balcony — a croissant, a glass of orange juice and a vase with a lilac sprig on a small table, morning light, seen from above at an angle, no lettering

A flat vector illustration: a girl rides a bicycle across a bridge over a river, the sun rises over the city, a limited palette — peach, turquoise and navy, no lettering

A panoramic strip for a website header: a misty pine forest at dawn, rays of light between the trunks, a calm symmetrical composition, no lettering
04API
One request, one image
POST /images/ responds with 202 and an ID. Get the result by polling GET /creations/ or with a webhook.
| Parameter | Type | What to pass |
|---|---|---|
modelrequired | string | nano-banana-2-lite |
promptrequired | string | What to draw: subject, style, lighting, text in the image. Up to 20,000 characters. |
resolution | string | 1K is the only resolution. If omitted: 1K. |
aspect_ratio | string | 1:1 16:9 9:16 4:3 3:4 2:3 3:2 5:4 4:5 21:9. If omitted: 1:1; there is no auto mode. |
image_file_ids | string[] | Up to 14 file IDs from POST /uploads, as reference images: PNG, JPEG, or WebP. For a text-only request, leave the field out. |
image_urls | string[] | Instead of files: from 1 to 14 public links to images. Don’t mix them with image_file_ids. |
webhook_url | string | An address for the event about completion or an error, instead of polling. |
X-Idempotency-Keyheader | string | Repeating a request with the same key won’t create a second request or a second charge. |
Pass an address in the webhook_url field and we’ll send a creation.completed or creation.failed event. Verify the signature with the secret from the portal, in the “Webhooks” section; the delivery log and a test send are there too.

What Nano Banana 2 Lite can do
A Google model from the Nano Banana family: image generation and editing at a fixed 1K resolution, with ten explicitly set aspect ratios, for cases where the aspect ratio is chosen in advance.
price per image
Fixed 1K
The model draws at 1K, for cases where the aspect ratio is chosen in advance and the result is needed at 1K. For 2K and 4K, choose Nano Banana Pro, Nano Banana 2, or Nano Banana 2.1.
You choose the aspect ratio
The aspect ratios are 1:1, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, 3:4, 2:3, 3:2, 5:4, 4:5, and 21:9. There is no auto mode: pass the aspect_ratio you need, or you get 1:1.

- 1K · aspect ratio 1:1
- Reference images
- up to 14 · PNG, JPEG, WebP · up to 25 MiB

- 1K only: the model has no other resolution.
- Ten aspect ratios; there is no
automode, so you set the aspect ratio, or it is 1:1. - One request, one image. For a series, send several requests.
- A prompt is required, including with reference images, and can be at most 20,000 characters long.
- Reference images larger than 7 MiB or 4,096 pixels on the longer side may be downscaled or re-encoded; keep your originals.
- Masks are not supported: to change an image, pass it as a reference image and describe the edit in the prompt.
- Resolutions are size tiers, not pixels: the
widthandheightparameters are not accepted. - The result is stored for one day, so download the file to your own storage. A file ID is valid 24 hours after its upload. The stored file is deleted 48 hours after its last upload.
- The model may decline a prompt or a reference image: the request ends as
failed, and the money is returned.
Who it’s for
When the aspect ratio is known in advance: 9:16 for stories, 16:9 for banners, 21:9 for wide strips.
Services where your code passes aspect_ratio itself and expects the result at 1K.
Upload an image as a reference and describe what to change and what to keep.
Illustrations and covers where 1K is enough.
How to write prompts
Five rules that most often improve the result.
- Write it like a brief. The product or subject, the scene, the mood, the lighting, the space for text.
- Set the aspect ratio yourself.
9:16for stories,16:9for banners,21:9for wide strips; withoutaspect_ratioyou get 1:1, and there is noautomode. - Put lettering in quotes. Write the text verbatim; short lettering comes out more accurately than long.
- Use reference images for the product and style. Upload up to 14 files and say what to keep and what to change.
- There is one resolution. The model draws at 1K for $0.015; for 2K and 4K, choose Nano Banana Pro, Nano Banana 2, or Nano Banana 2.1.
