In brief
At Rendergrid, one GPT Image 2.5 image costs $0.025 at 1K, its only resolution. GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst costs Pricing at 1K, Pricing at 2K, and Pricing at 4K, and GPT Image 2.5 Flare costs Pricing at 1K, Pricing at 2K, and Pricing at 4K. OpenAI quotes tokens rather than a price per image, so a per-image figure comes from OpenAI’s own calculator. A failed request costs nothing: the amount goes straight back to your balance. How much does a GPT Image 2.5 image cost?
Rendergrid charges one price per image, set by the model and the resolution you request. The amount is taken when your request is accepted, and a failed request is free: it goes straight back to your balance.

Which resolutions does each model offer?
GPT Image 2.5 renders at 1K only. A request for 2K or 4K is rejected with a 400 before any charge. GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst and GPT Image 2.5 Flare list 1K, 2K, and 4K, and a request without resolution is rendered at 1K for every GPT Image model. The models available to your account are listed by GET /models. For the fields, see models and parameters; for each model, see GPT Image 2.5, GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst, and GPT Image 2.5 Flare.
How the three images were made
One prompt, three requests. Each request carries the same prompt and the same 1:1 aspect ratio. The model and the resolution change together.
One attempt each. Every image is shown as it came back. None was re-rolled or replaced.
Made through the Rendergrid API. The prompt is printed with the images.
One prompt, three models and resolutions
A clear rectangular perfume bottle with an ivory cap stands on a pale circular stage, holding a little pale gold liquid. Use a three-quarter view, soft side light, delicate glass reflections and a quiet beige wall. Center the full bottle with ample empty margins. No lettering, logos, people, or watermarks.
GPT Image 2.5
gpt-image-2.5 · 1K · 1:1 · $0.025
GPT Image 2.5, 1K, 1:1, one attempt. A clear rectangular glass bottle with an ivory cylindrical cap and a thin gold ring at the neck stands on a pale round stage in front of a warm beige wall. The bottle is turned to show its front and a strip of its right side, near the three-quarter view the prompt asked for. The light comes from the left: soft-edged bands of light fall on the wall and the floor, the stage throws a soft shadow to the right, and a small bright patch of light lies on the stage beside the bottle’s base. The glass shows delicate reflections. The bottle is centered from side to side and from top to bottom, with open space around it, as the prompt asked. No lettering, logo, person, or watermark is visible. Departures from the prompt: the liquid fills about half of the glass, which is more than “a little”, and a thin tube runs down inside the glass, which the prompt did not mention. The gold ring at the neck was not in the prompt either.
GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst
gpt-image-2.5-sunburst · 2K · 1:1 · Pricing
GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst, 2K, 1:1, one attempt. A clear rectangular glass bottle with a wide ivory cap, rounded at the edge, and a thin gold ring at the neck stands on a round stage of pale veined stone in front of a beige-gray wall. The light comes from the left: bands of light and shade with blurred edges cross the wall and the floor, and a small bright patch of light lies on the stage beside the bottle’s base. The glass shows delicate reflections and doubled vertical edges. The bottle is centered from side to side and from top to bottom, with open space around it, as the prompt asked. This bottle, cap, and stage differ from those in the other two images, because each was a separate request. No lettering, logo, person, or watermark is visible. Departures from the prompt: the bottle is turned only slightly, with a narrow strip of its right side showing, where the prompt asked for a three-quarter view; the liquid fills a little under half of the glass, which is more than “a little”; and the gold ring at the neck was not in the prompt.
GPT Image 2.5 Flare
gpt-image-2.5-flare · 4K · 1:1 · Pricing
GPT Image 2.5 Flare, 4K, 1:1, one attempt. A clear rectangular glass bottle with an ivory cylindrical cap and a thin gold ring at the neck stands on a pale round stage with a matte surface in front of a plain beige wall. The light comes from the left: soft bands of light cross the wall and the floor, the stage throws a soft shadow to the right, and a faint gold glow lies on the stage beside the bottle’s base. The bottle is centered from side to side and from top to bottom, with open space around it, as the prompt asked. This bottle, cap, and stage differ from those in the other two images, because each was a separate request. No lettering, logo, person, or watermark is visible at the size this image is displayed. Departures from the prompt: the bottle is turned only slightly, with a narrow strip of its right side showing, where the prompt asked for a three-quarter view; the liquid fills about half of the glass, which is more than “a little”; and a thin tube runs down inside the glass and a gold ring sits at the neck, neither of which the prompt mentioned.
Each image is a separate request with its own bottle. All three show a clear rectangular bottle with an ivory cap on a pale round stage in front of a beige-toned wall, lit from the left and centered with open space around it, and none shows lettering, logos, people, or a watermark. In all three the liquid fills about half of the glass or a little less, which is more than the prompt’s “a little”. Because the model and the resolution change together, the images cannot show what a higher resolution adds, or tell GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst from GPT Image 2.5 Flare. They show what each request returned.
Why does OpenAI quote tokens, not a price per image?
OpenAI prices the image that GPT Image 2.5 outputs by tokens: it publishes a rate per million tokens, not one price per image. A per-image figure therefore needs OpenAI’s calculator, which takes a size and a quality and returns the cost of one image. The figure changes with both. Rendergrid prices an image by model and resolution, so the table above is the price per image.
Quality belongs to OpenAI’s calculator. A Rendergrid request has no such field: you choose the model and the resolution.
How does Rendergrid’s price compare with OpenAI’s?
OpenAI’s calculator gives a per-image figure for each size. The tables put it next to Rendergrid’s price for each model and resolution.
| Resolution | Official OpenAI price | Rendergrid | Savings | For $10 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1K | $0.052681 | $0.025 | 52% | 400 images |
- 1OpenAI: high quality; square: 1K 1024x1024
The basis is a square image at OpenAI’s high quality. Other sizes and qualities have other figures.
For GPT Image 2.5 at 1K, Rendergrid is 52% below OpenAI’s figure. Checked on .The editorial page describes how these prices are checked.
How do you count a budget?
Count finished images, then multiply: total = number of images × price per image. Use the price for the model and resolution you request, and leave failed requests out, because they are refunded. For example, 500 images a month on GPT Image 2.5 at 1K come to 500 times its 1K price. The pricing page lists every model and resolution, so you can add up a mixed volume.
To cap spending, set a monthly limit on the account or on one key in the portal. When it is used up, the next generation request gets 402 ERR_INSUFFICIENT_BALANCE and nothing is charged. A refunded failed image frees its amount again. The details are in monthly spending limits.
Where does this comparison not fit?
- Three images are not a benchmark. Each is one attempt, and the model and the resolution change together. They say nothing about speed, quality, reliability, or how GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst differs from GPT Image 2.5 Flare.
- OpenAI’s figures are one basis. They are for a square image at high quality, and OpenAI’s own API has its own terms. For those, use OpenAI’s pages. To weigh a maker’s API against a unified one, read Maker API or unified image API: when direct is better.
- Prices change. The figures here are read from the live price list; the pricing page lists every model and resolution. Rendergrid’s prices are without taxes.
- The budget example is an assumption. The 500 images a month are an example, not Rendergrid’s traffic or any account’s.
