Apiframe alternatives for image generation APIs
Apiframe is a single REST API for images, video, and music: the page states more than seventy models, including Midjourney. Below are the prices for those of our models that we found on their pages, and the terms that affect your choice.
A Rendergrid article. We’re one of the parties in this comparison, so the Apiframe figures come only from its public pages, each with a link and a date, and below we say separately when Apiframe is the better choice. How we check and correct
01Who it is
What Apiframe is
Briefly, and only from their own pages. Website: apiframe.ai.
Apiframe (apiframe.ai) is a single REST API for generating images, video, and music: Midjourney, Kling, Suno, and more than seventy other models on one key. A request creates a task; you collect the result by polling or through a webhook and download it from the CDN address in the response.
Payment is in credits (1 credit = $0.01) on paid plans with a monthly volume; after the starter credits you need to choose a plan. Of the models in the table, their documentation’s list includes Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana Pro, and GPT Image 2; Nano Banana 2.1 and GPT Image 2.5 are not in it.

The difference is measured from the larger of the two prices, rounded down to a whole percent. The “≈” sign is an estimate that the provider’s own page gives. For GPT Image, quality and size differ between providers: each one’s conditions are in the footnote. We compare prices, not image quality. Nano Banana Flash, Nano Banana 2 Lite, and GPT Image 2 HD are not in the table: we haven’t checked the provider’s prices for them. Our own prices and the official Google and OpenAI prices are on the “Pricing” page.

04Strengths
Where we’re stronger, and where Apiframe is
Only what can be verified from public pages and our documentation.
Where Rendergrid is stronger
- We have Nano Banana 2.1 and GPT Image 2.5 (GPT Image 2.5 Flare and GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst); they’re not in the model list in Apiframe’s documentation.
- A price is stated for every resolution (1K, 2K, 4K). For Nano Banana 2, Apiframe’s price page has only 1K; for Nano Banana Pro, 1K and 2K; there is no price for 4K.
- There’s no subscription: you top up the balance by any amount you choose. At Apiframe, after the starter credits you need to choose a paid plan (Pro is $99 a month) with a monthly volume of credits.
Where Apiframe is stronger
- The catalog is wider: more than seventy models on one key, including Midjourney, video, and music.
- 100 starter credits after phone verification or a $1 payment. We have no trial balance.
- Files are stored on the CDN for 90 days; ours are stored for one day.
- The limit is 500 requests per minute per user, and on the higher plans up to 100 concurrent tasks (ours by default is 120 requests per minute and up to 100 generations queued or running).
- Failed tasks return credits automatically (as ours do).
05Choosing
When to pick Apiframe instead
We write this page as a participant in the comparison, so we name separately the cases where Apiframe suits you better.
Pick Apiframe if
- You need Midjourney, video, or music on one key together with images.
- You need results stored on the provider’s side for 90 days.
- A plan with a monthly volume of credits works for you.
- Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana Pro, and GPT Image 2 at 1K are enough for you.
06Migration
Migrating to Rendergrid in three steps
If you decide to give it a try, here is what to change in the code. Parameters and responses are in the documentation.
Key and address
At Apiframe, requests go to https://
api.apiframe.ai/ v2 with an X-API-Key header. For us it is https:// api.rendergrid.io/ api/ public/ v1; the X-API-Key header is accepted too (as is Authorization: Bearer). You create the key in the portal. Request
Instead of POST /v2/
images/ generate, call POST /images/ generate: model, prompt, aspect_ratio, and resolution sit at the root of the JSON body, and the webhook is set with the webhook_url field. Add X-Idempotency-Key. Result
Instead of a task identifier and the CDN link from its response, save the ID from the 202 response and poll GET /creations/
{id} (queued, processing, completed, and failed; links in result_urls) or accept the creation.completed webhook. Our files are kept for a day, not 90 days.
IDEMPOTENCY_KEY="$(uuidgen)"
curl -X POST https://api.rendergrid.io/api/public/v1/images/generate \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $RENDERGRID_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-H "X-Idempotency-Key: $IDEMPOTENCY_KEY" \
-d '{
"model": "nano-banana-2",
"prompt": "a ceramic mug on a marble table",
"resolution": "2K",
"aspect_ratio": "1:1"
}'
